Drain the jackfruit in a fine mesh sieve and rinse it. Transfer to a bowl and use two forks to pull apart the jackfruit pieces. It will resemble shredded meat. Set aside.
Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once it's hot, add the onion, stir and saute for a few minutes, until fragrant. Stir in the garlic.
Stir the reserved shredded jackfruit inito to the skillet, followed by the cumin, salt, pepper and barbecue sauce. Stir well to combine.
Cook the jackfruit mixture, stirring occasionally, for about 7 to 10 minutes. Taste and adjust flavors if necessary. Serve with rice, quinoa, or in a wrap. Squeeze with lime if desired.
